Does anyone else feel like this during their period?

Today is the second day of my period and I feel quite frightened at how horrendous I feel this month, almost felt like a dying feeling yesterday (day 1) and like I couldn't keep my eyes open/might collapse, it was really scary. I had a recent anaemia test, it was on the lower end for HB but not anaemia.

I've always been able to get through them even when they've been heavy/painful. I have had covid recently, does anyone know if that would affect anything?

I'm 39 and have been noticing differences over the last year so; not as many cramps but pulling pain around the lower abdomen just before it starts, awful awful on the same day every month (4 days before period) mood swings where I say I want to leave my partner.

Anyway, does any of that ring any bells with anyone, does it just change anyway at this age?

I have that pulling pain in my lower right abdomen and I’m being tested for ovarian cysts. Like you, extremely painful periods but always able to muscle through but lately I’m absolutely wrecked!!

I am anemic though so my levels are impacted by my period which explains some of it

I would ask your gp for a transcerverical scan or organise one privately. I’ve had loads of gynaecological issues put down to “its just your period” but only after scans were done did people say the level of pain was abnormal because I had physical issues causing the pain. Definitely push for a scan.

I was googling divorce solicitors every month before my period along with being exhausted. Now I’m on the mini pill and life is back to normal.

(I can’t find this magic edit button everyone is talking about so posting again)

My emotions aren’t so much all over the place as you’re describing but I do get very irritable before my period. The “stop breathing it’s too loud” kind 🙈 My anxiety tends to act up too.

Do you use an app or anything to track your cycle? My pain gets really bad every month at ovulation. I’m wondering if it’s the same for you.

Thanks very much, I have an appointment soon so appreciate the pointers.

Haha yes I have that irritability. Luckily DH is medical so quite laid back about it, I'm sure I test his patience.

I do track it on a calendar, only common themes are terrible mood swings 4 days before and lately this crushing tiredness. The pulling type pain is the day before.

@Daisy523 Edit button seems to be the 3 dots on the bottom right of the post, click on that and edit option is at the bottom.

My HB was borderline, I wonder if the period just tips it over, but why is this awful crushing fatigue the day before it all kicks off?

Could be. My iron levels are quite steady during the month and then plummet after my period, leading to about 2 weeks of exhaustion (literally falling asleep upright exhaustion) until it rights itself … just in time for the next period 🙈
