Gunky eyes

They're sore, swollen and producing pus. So I haven't used eye makeup in a week.

I'm heading off to the chemist soon to get an eye bath but any experience of this?

Sounds like conjunctivitis. Bath your eyes in warm salt water. Use different pads for each eye so no cross contamination.

Myself and my children used to get this quite a lot. It can be very sore, but it does go quite quickly.

@Londonnight ah OK cool - I'll try that in sterilised cool water for a couple of days and if it works report back :)

You need antibiotic drops if it hasn’t cleared up within a week, choramphenicol (you can get over the counter).
if you wear contact lenses, chuck the pair you’re wearing and keep them out until 48hrs after it’s clear.
cool boiled water if useful for clearing the gunk off your lids in the morning.

it can also live on towels and pillowcases, so change those daily.

if it’s no better after 3 days of medication, see your GP or an optometrist.

I've got hold of the chloramphenicol active ingredient product now and administered so hoping it may clear within 24 hours

Sounds like conjunctivitis. Get some antibiotic eye drops from chemist and change flannels, towels, pillow cases. It's really infectious. Also check with your GP.

Actually I am really grateful for the advice on here.

You can actually start to see the whites of my eyes again now whereas I felt like a pink eyed piglet before.

Another few days before I can wear eye make-up perhaps but it is a lot better than it was.

Only problem with eye drops is that you have to tilt your head back and it can go everywhere

Just to mention, the infection may also be in your mascara, so I’d throw that away.
glad it’s feeling better.
