CA125 test results - I don't receive test results on my NHS app

Hi all,

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has recently had a CA125 test who doesn't receive test results via their NHS app?

If so, could you tell me how long it took for you to receive your test results please?

I had my test done a week last Wednesday, and just thought I would have heard something by now?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

CA125 is usually within 24 hours. I’d call to chase.

Okay, thanks for your help. It's very much appreciated.

Same for me, I’m in wales so no NHS app and the results are always in within 24-48 hours for my CA125. Definitely give your GP a call later to ask.

My mum - who's in remission from ovarian cancer - questioned this with her oncologist yesterday. Apparently where we are if the oncologist (as opposed to the GP) orders a blood test the results don't appear in the app until/unless the oncologist adds them manually, which she does after seeing the patient in person.

I am glad to hear your mum is in remission. I hope she is doing okay?

My test was requested by my GP following an ultrasound scan, because a large ovarian cyst was found.

Thanks for sharing the information about your mum.

I have blood tests every 3 months. The results appear on my nhs app within 24 hours. I can view all the results for other tests but my ca125 appears as blocked . I then have a review with my oncologist and she tells me the ca125 result. The ca125 gets unblocked on the app sometime afterwards.

I think the view is that if there is bad news, then you should hear it from the oncologist.

Thanks for sharing your info.

I am just dealing with my GP at present, because the CA125 test is just a routine following an ultrasound scan that showed up a large ovarian cyst.

I hope you are doing okay.

I've had 2 CA125 tests recently as it is raised. It appears on my GP records under test results as soon as they have viewed it.

Thank you, mum's doing well (touch wood). The cancer was picked up early, and entirely by chance, while she was having a CT scan for something else. Bit of a roller coaster ride but looking good at the moment. I hope your blood tests come back clear and that the cyst buggers off of it's own accord - they are horrible things!

I guess you just take it day by day? I'm glad the cancer was detected early. I bet you and your mum are so thankful for that CT scan?

The only symptom I had (and I'm not even sure if it is a symptom of ovarian cysts) was a very heavy, prolonged period with huge blood clots. I am not in pain or anything and feel totally normal.

Women's issues are just awful, aren't they?!

I didn’t have the blood test but I was told my mum’s oncologist to ask my GP for a scan as I have terrible periods and pain? Had an ultrasound and I have a cyst that’s 3.5mm so will return in 8 weeks. Mums was also found on a CT scan after she broke her leg.

we are waiting for genetic testing results to see if Mum carried the gene so I can be tested if positive.

sending love and strength to you all going through this it’s horrible.

Mum was in hospital so the blood results were given daily or they’d call us, sorry can’t be much help with that

checkedroses · 26/08/2023 13:03

Have you phoned for your result? Generally GP surgeries don’t phone all results out (esp if normal). If it was done over a week ago the result should be available if you phone on Monday. I’d leave it until later morning though as phones always really busy first thing on a Monday!

Jencs1983 · 26/08/2023 16:32

Thanks for all of your replies. I am very grateful that you all took the time to send me your stories/info/advice.

I do not receive any blood test results on my phone/NHS app. It isn't set up for it. I live in the Manchester area, so I may not even be eligible for results via my phone.

I will look in to it though.
