MEDICINE ADVICE

Hi everyone,
Hoping someone can give some advice. I currently have toothache and have to wait a few days to be seen, so I've been taking paracetamol. Unfortunately my brain is not working too well lol, and I'm getting myself confused with how to spread out the doses. I know that you should not take more than 8 tablets within a 24 hour period, but I'm getting confused as to when the next 24 hour period starts. Do I need to wait a full 24 hours before taking another dose after one 24 hour period has ended, or is it ok to take 16 tablets within a 48 hour period for example?
Thank you in advance

Yeah 16 in 48 is right. Though if it's severe toothache, if it's not working, get the paracetamol with codiene, magic for toothache. Hope it gets better

Because Paracetamol comes in different strengths, you need to let us know how many milligrams each tablet is. Normally they’re spaced out 4-6hrly, (depending on whether it’s slow release or combined with ibuprofen or other meds) but I am in Aus. Ours could be different.
Maximum recommended DAILY dose is 4000mg per day.
Individual dosage is 500-1000mg (One or two 500mg tablets here in Aus). 1x1000mg can be safely taken every 6hrs, 1x500mg every four hours (with leeway to go up to 1000mg for two doses per day if required. Most often night doses)

In UK it's normally 500mg and you can take 8 of those in a 24 hour period

Get a pen and paper and put it near your box of paracetamol, and when you take a dose write down amount taken and what time you took it. Don’t take more than the maximum dose in 24 hours. If you have your first dose at 6am, then the next 24 hour period begins at 6am the next day.

Either write it down or put it into a free medication app that gives you alerts.

Thank you everyone. I'm not taking ibuprofen as ibuprofen seems ineffective. I'm taking 2 tablets around 3-4 times a day. I will definitely write down the time when I take them though, so I know when the next period ends and starts.
