Maybe shingles on my leg? Pic!

Does anyone think this could be shingles on my leg? I developed a red rash on one leg the other day and thought it might be from a blunt razor. I ordered some new heads but in meantime it feels sore like sunburn and I noticed one has blistered.
Not on other leg, I haven’t used any new products and I feel fine in myself (so far?!).

I’ve no experience with shingles but noticing the blisters today started googling.

Sorry for the rubbish lighting.

It could be. I had similar on my upper arm a few years ago, it felt sore and prickly. GP said it was a mild case of shingles in a bit of an unusual place, and prescribed antivirals. It didn't get any worse and I didn't feel unwell.

I'd get it looked at by your GP asap because for the antivirals to be effective you need to get them quite quickly after the rash develops.

My rash on my back did look like that. I’d get it checked.

lking12 · 20/08/2023 23:29

I’ve had the rash since Thursday but blisters last 24 hrs. Will phone go tomorrow does feel like sunburn. Really odd place and not in a line or anything!?

Oh yikes that looks just like the shingles I had on my back. Like you I thought it was just a rash, caused by my bra strap somehow. Until it started to feel like someone holding an open flame against my back!

Call GP first thing tomorrow and if they confirm they can get you on the antivirals right away!

lking12 · 20/08/2023 23:42

Thanks. Didn’t realise shingles needed urgent treatment.

It does look like shingles. You should start anti virals asap as pp says, usually within 5 days of getting symptoms.

saraclara · 21/08/2023 00:05

It doesn't look anything like mine, and shingles spots are generally located at nerve endings. It would be odd for them to appear where yours are.

Looks like shingles when my mum had them on shoulder

I just looked. Apparently they can appear on limbs, but it's unusual. It's usually the trunk, head or neck that's affected.

Worth getting checked out, of course.

I hope it isn’t. My baby hasn’t had chicken pox and we’re booked on a cruise in 9 days. You can’t cruise with chicken pox :(. Think shingles is okay if you keep it covered/they’re crusted over.
will investigate if that’s what it’s diagnosed as. Booo.

Are they painful? I couldn't let anything touch mine, due to the pain. Which was unfortunate as they were along my bra line. I had to go bra-less and wear smocks for two weeks.

Nat6999 · 21/08/2023 05:45

I had it on my elbow, it drove me mad, I got a cream from Amazon that was calamine & witch Hazel, it was really soothing & stopped the itching.

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 21/08/2023 05:57

Just dropping these links for you. My husband has had it a few times on his back. I had it many years ago on my stomach oddly.

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 21/08/2023 05:58

I'd say yes, I was diagnosed with shingles last week and your second photo looks exactly like a small patch of blisters that was on my rib cage.

They itched a bit, but not too much, it was more an internal pain around that area. Apparently they are all on your nerve endings and that's why they can be painful.

My GP said unless they saw me within 2 days of the rash appearing they can't do anything for it.

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 21/08/2023 06:00

To add to my post, he said I could carry on as normal, as unless I rub the blister juice on an open wound they aren't contagious (certainly not like chicken pox), so I was ok for going into work etc.

lking12 · 21/08/2023 06:57

Yes it’s painful it feels like sunburn and is sore when my trousers are on but it’s not unbearable. Obviously the worst one is the big one!

lking12 · 29/08/2023 21:08

Chewbecca · 29/08/2023 21:19

Oh no. It did look like it tbh. Hope you are feeling ok. Your cruise?

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 29/08/2023 22:19

Thought so 😔. Hope you're recovering ok and got the antivirals. It took about a month for my husbands aches to go away.
