This might be a very silly question, but how do you know if a bite has broken the skin ? I have read the skin can be broken even if there is no blood so I'm not sure how to tell

I thought they always broke the skin personally but the ones I've had complications with before (such as cellulitis) are the ones where there was obvious blood just after getting bitten. So I guess in that case there is an even bigger entry point for bacteria into the skin.

If we're talking mosquito bites they always break the skin - I should know because I'm allergic to the little bastards. If we're talking mammals with big teeth - I'd think that would be pretty obvious!

Sorry I should have been more clear, it's a bite from a young child
