Is there a cold going around that's not covid?

My mother has some typical symptoms of covid - sore throat, cough, headache. No fever but she usually has a low body temperature anyways so it will be hard to recognise a fever in her. She has no body aches or pains. She's tired but not overly tired.

She's 4 days into this and I helped her with a COVID test and it turned out to be negative.

Is there a different thing going around. Just wondering if I should encourage her to get to a doctor come Monday in case it's strep throat?

Colds never went away!

I had it last week. Needed a tap fitted on my poor nose.

Both me and my 11 year old daughter have had this for the past two weeks. Finally starting to feel a bit better but the cough is lingering.

I have a hideous cold atm - sore throat, sore lungs, coughing up lumps, sore bones, really tired, mouth ulcers which migrated to the back of my throat. 3 effing sodding weeks of it.

I mean, I’m not trying to be mean but of course there are various colds going around — why would you think otherwise? There always are.

Do people really not understand that there are multiple colds and other viruses ‘going round’ ALL THE TIME?!
