ds is 13 months and way off the bottom of the charts for weight, height and head circumference.
We have recently changed paediatricians as we felt that 13 months of see you in 3 months time just wasn't good enough. Our new paed is doing lots of blood and absorption tests. Has anyone had just a small child that didn't fit the charts. He is well in himself and developmentally normal.

My DD was born full term and a good weight (7lb 1oz) but she didn't gain weight. At 3 weeks she weighed 7lb 1.5oz
She was refered back to the hospital but they decided she didn't look sickly!

Anyway, she is now 5.11 and still very small. She was a late walker and a late talker (but is making up for it now!) In fact she is the same size as her 2.8 brother!

I think those charts are just a rough guide and persoanlly, if your DS is following the same sort of line for each chart, I'd try not to worry. As he is well in himself and developing well, that must be reassuring.

When you say 'way off the charts' what do you mean? The charts cover a fairly wide sample. My dd is just under the charts for height and she DOES look bloody small. How big are you and DH?

Joshjunior · 15/12/2004 07:28

ds is 'well below the 0.4 centile - he weighs 15lb 8oz. and is 69cms tall head circumf. 40cm. dh and myself are average.

Hmm I don't have the boy charts here.. if he was a girl his height would be ok! On the 2nd percentile I think. But TBH if you and DH are not small, then I think it would definitely be worth investigating further, just to put your mind at rest. Good luck!
