About 2 weeks ago, I suddenly experienced some hearing loss in my right ear. It felt like there was water in there, a bit like when you've been swimming, although nothing came out. When I tilted my head to the right, I could hear a strange sound, similar to waves. I just presumed it was a build up of wax so made an appointment to have it removed. However, the nurse who looked at it said there was very little wax and it was unlikely that this was causing the hearing loss. She drained it anyway but it's still the same. I've booked a hearing test for next week and now actually feel a bit worried. For reference, I'm 55 and had a perforated eardrum as a child (same ear). The nurse also said that my eardrum was 'dull' not shiny as it should be. Does anyone have any experience of something similar?
