Bleeding from bum (sorry if TMI!)

Name changed for this for obvious reasons! Sorry to those for whom this is too much info.

Last week I was a bit constipated and after doing a poo I had bright red blood both on the paper and in the loo. This lasted for maybe 24 hours and disappeared. I increased by fibre and water intake a bit but then let it drop off towards the end of the week. Today I had to strain to poo again and the bleeding has come back. Bright red blood, quite a bit of it and have been bleeding ever since at each toilet visit, but not in pants.

No real pain or itchiness.

Is this something I should be seeing the doctor about today or can it wait until next week / see whether the bleeding stops again?

For context, I am around 12 weeks post partum and had piles in pregnancy though nowhere near this much blood, just A little bit of blood and insane itchiness.

I do have health anxiety so I’m terrible for trusting my own judgement when it comes to things like this!

It's probably piles or polyps but I would make a doctors appointment to be sure

FrenchMustard · 18/08/2023 19:25

Definitely sounds like piles unfortunately!

You are still very post party, and agree it sounds like piles. As a rule, fresh red blood after BM less cause for concern than darker/older blood. Give it 48
hours, if still bleeding (or progresses in the meantime) call 111/GP out of hours.

Post partum 🤦🏼‍♀️

Grapewrath · 18/08/2023 20:11

Sounds like piles but do check in with your GP to be on the safe side

continentallentil · 18/08/2023 20:13

I’d bet large sums of money it’s piles, but of course get it checked.

Eat more fibre and drink lots of water.

BumWorries · 18/08/2023 22:29

Thank you everyone. I can now actually feel a pile there (sorry again for TMI on a Friday night) but may get checked with GP anyway next week. Oh the glamour of post partum life.

I have quite severe piles and they can bleed like mad. I would get it looked at and hopefully creams and suppositories may help.
