Sick bug and then fainting/shaking

Hi,

Hoping someone may have experienced something similar while I wait for doctors to call me.

I've got a stomach bug that I've picked up from the kids. They were both sick once and then fine, I was hoping for the same.

It came on in the night and I was sick a few times in a row, but then the next thing I remember is jerking around on the floor and I couldn't get up until I'd stopped jerking around. Managed to bash my nose in the process and it's tender today. I was tired it was the middle of the night so I didn't give it too much thought thinking I'd slipped or something.

I've just been sick for the second time and it's happened again. I'd made sure to sit on the floor but again been sick and then ended up in the floor. Don't really remember thrashing around this time just woke up on the floor again.

I've called my doctors and they are going to call back asap but anyone experienced this before? I'm thinking dehydration although I've been sipping water and only been sick twice.

I thought you were going to say this has gone on for days. I'm not sure why that would happen in such a short time unless you're diabetic.
While you're waiting for the doctor to call back, I would try to eat something like a piece of toast or a plain biscuit though, which might help settle your stomach and bring your blood sugar up in case that's dipped.

Thanks for the response. No not diabetic and I've been eating and drinking normally, even had food this morning before I was sick and passed out.

Doctor said it's unusual and suggested to go to hospital but I can't think of anything worse than waiting in A&E with a vomiting bug (and I'm sure no-one else wants that) so going to see if it happens again.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
Do go to hospital though if it happens again.

Hey o.p, what did your doctor say about this in the end?? My mum has started passing out during vomiting when she has a bug: apparently it runs in the family?! The last few I’ve had I felt like I had to fight to remain conscious so I’ve probably got the same to look forward to…. It does worry me as it could potentially be very dangerous e.g injury from falling or if you fell into a position where vomit was blocked from escaping? Not sure about the jerking you describe though, sounds like some sort of convulsion, have you been tested for epilepsy? You can have convulsions if you’re really dehydrated I think but if you weren’t sick much then that’s unlikely? Be interested to hear back or from anyone else who experiences this x
