I don’t have any toothache or any pain (touch wood), but I have realised that when my jaw bone is pressed at the red spot on this diagram, it’s really sore! It’s like it’s bruised!

please tell me I don’t have an abscess?!

Morning bump 😊

I (currently) have no tooth pain, no pain when eating, no pain when opening my mouth or yawning. I wouldn’t have known about it if I hadn’t absentmindedly touched the corner of my jawbone. It’s still really sore when pressed today.

I have to say I get this sometimes. I press it and it really hurts but within a day or so it goes. I always just assumed it’s a bit of a tooth infection without the toothache, I really should book a dental appointment.

Try gargling with a bit of salt water and see if that helps. Are you due a trip to the dentist?

I once had something called TMJ pain and stiffness in jaw , there are exercises you can do and eventually went away on its own

DrCoconut · 13/08/2023 12:19

I had similar but the pain was ever so slightly higher up toward my ear. It was a salivary gland infection

JaneJeffer · 13/08/2023 12:23

You would know if you had an abscess believe me!

Have all your wisdom teeth been accounted for? It could be an impacted one.

ElinorDashwood68 · 13/08/2023 12:26

Perhaps grinding your teeth at night or clenching your jaw. I used to suffer until getting botox in my jaw

Wessle · 13/08/2023 14:50

All wisdom teeth accounted for! Next dentist check up is scheduled for the end of September.

Ok thank you, I might try some antibiotics to see if it wards anything off!

Did you ever find out what this was? I am experiencing the same thing right now and don’t want to go to dentist.

It lasted about a week then disappeared; when I went for my next dentist check up he said all was fine! No idea what caused it but it hasn’t come back since.
