Smear results / now bleeding.

Hi, i created a thread the other week regarding my abnormal smear results (hpv+ and low grade dyskarosis) I felt like i had finally just started to calm myself down a little and this morning whilst out i noticed some bleeding when going to the toilet. I thought it may be my period to start off with as i am due on (last one was about 5weeks ago) but i’ve been to toilet a few times since. The first couple of times continued to bleed with some blood in the toilet and i’m wearing a pad and had some blood on there but now it seems to have almost stopped. I am absolutely petrified that this isn’t a period at all and that this means i have cervical cancer, i’m panicking so much and there is nothing i can do with it being a weekend. Any advice would be so great.

First of all take a deep breath! I had the same diagnosis but im pregnant so it was 6 months ago and nothing has been able to be done since. I’m having to wait another 3 months for treatment after baby is born. The doctor explained that it’s usually years (5 or more) they are working with rather than months in terms of how long these things take to develop into cancer so that really calmed me down. The bleeding could be so many different things. Get yourself a GP appointment on Monday or if you have a number for the colposcopy department directly at hospital see if they will see you. Hope it’s nothing to worry about

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply - i’ve just seen your response. I can happily say that a few hours after posting this my period came on in full swing. I can honestly say i’ve never been happier to see it🤣 luckily it stoped yesterday as i had my colposcopy today and i couldn’t have hacked anymore waiting! So pleased to say that at my appointment she said that everything looked absolutely fine down there - no abnormalities found and nothing to biopsy. Going back in 6months just to check everything is still clear and then if so should be back onto normal smears. I defo think the amount of stress i have put myself under for the last 2weeks is what caused the bleeding to start stop on the morning of the beginning of my period.

I hope that everything goes well with you - i had a baby 4months ago and deffo think pregnancy played a part in the immune system being a little weakened as we give all our goodness to our bubbas. Enjoy your new little baby when they arrive☺️ (I feel like i’ve wasted to much time worrying over what turned out to be nothing) x
