Mosquito bites?? Or something else

Me and my daughter both have these bites. Not really itchy or painful, but I can’t identify them, feel like mosquito bites but we’ve not been out of Manchester! A buzzing insect was in our house Tuesday night and Wednesday these beauties popped up. Any ideas??

Don't know but we have something similar

Horsefly?
Take some antihistamines

NeverDropYourMooncup · 11/08/2023 16:12

Horsefly. They take ages to go down.

Yes to antihistamines at the very least, possibly even Hydrocortisone cream to stop the urge to scratch (as even if they aren't itching now, it's very likely they will over the next few days), plus cold packs and keep an eye on any swelling or redness spreading.

You would know if you were bitten by a horsefly wouldn't you? I've heard they are very painful.
My infected mozzie bites looked like this.

Dd says there aren’t itching or hurting but they look nasty. I’ve given her piriton and put some antiseptic cream on but I’d love to know what they were!

So if horsefly are they going to get more painful? And is it dangerous, I’ve heard some nast stories! How on earth do you get those in the middle of the city?

No. When a horsefly bites it's very painful.
I got bitten by something when I was horse riding in India and the guide told me it was likely to be a horsefly. It was quite painful when it bit me, but not afterwards.

It really depends on how you react. Hopefully she’ll be fine. Some people get a lot of pain itching and swelling. Hopefully not
