I'm a bit of a loss because now I've seen 5 doctors all with fairly different approaches /opinions about what's happening on my right nipple. I have bleeding warts that have multiplied (and a rancid smell/discharge).

Doctor #1 (GP) - not interested but referred me to a local hospital because I developed mastitis on the other breast

Doctor #2 (breast surgeon) - said she had no clue, but that it wasn't normal, so referred me to more tests (mammogram and ultrasound), both came clear

Doctor #3 (dermatologist) - I saw my cousin while on holiday and she said it looked like HPV / papilomatosis and took a biopsy

Doctor #4 (breast surgeon) - he still didn't really give me an answer about what the warts were, but his approach was to wait six weeks because of the discharge and see if it got better (remember they stink and bleed), I asked for a biopsy

Doctor #5 (breast surgeon, head of department) - didn't want to give me a biopsy, told me it was a Montgomery tubercule, and ultimately gave me one because she knew I'd come back. She even admitted it could be a rare form of cancer, but it's so rare that she wouldn't necessarily do it.

I told my cousin what the doctor told me and she said they're being a bit lazy and borderline negligent, that she hoped it is what the doctor said, but that it didn't align with her professional opinion.

So who do I believe? I ultimately did get a biopsy by the NHS, but I wouldn't have to fight for something that quite frankly isn't normal. Bleeding rotting nipples aren't normal regardless of what they say.

If they are warts, have you considered its just a nasty case of warts? Has anyone tried freezing it?

I'd wait for the result of the biopsies, since that will rule out various possibilities.

What is the suggested treatment for infected Montgomery tubercule? Or warts in that area?

I'd wait for biopsy results.

The consultant would be expected to know their stuff, so I'd wait for that biopsy result.

I am confused..your cousin is a doctor and took a biopsy? Please tell me this isn't in the uk

She's in Spain. I went to her private clinic and was sent to a private lab.

No idea for the Montgomery ones, but for the warts it would be similar to the way they treat cervical HPV. My cousin explained that because my nipples are inverted they work more like a mucous membrane than as external skin.

Paget's disease (the rare form of cancer) also falls under dermatology and she's ruling that one too with the biopsy.
