Because I'm fed up of the feel of the pressure of it when I'm lying in bed.

I was told the only course of action was to lose weight which I am doing (2 stone down so far, 2 to go). But I wonder if there is anything good go take for liver health?

Milk thistle

Green tea - up to four cups a day.
Cruciferous vegetables - broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower
Nuts
Beetroot juice
Fatty fish - salmon, mackerel

Exercise more often

Keep up the weight loss

Don't drink alcohol.

You can do this. You're doing brilliantly by losing 2 stone already.

Fasting is your friend. Minimum 3 days at a time.

Agree Milk Thistle

1tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1tbsp fresh lemon juice
1tbsp cayenne pepper

Shake and take like a shot every morning.

What does this do?

It's a liver cleanse. My liver was highly elevated especially my serum ALT 195 it was. Completely reversed my fatty liver and brought that level especially down to 26.

VikingLady · 06/08/2023 18:02

I was told black coffee helps.

gogomoto · 06/08/2023 18:04

@Kirstylvsya

Would make a good salad dressing too, two-in-one product

Cookerhood · 06/08/2023 18:06

There's no such thing as a liver cleanse.

Kirstylvsya · 06/08/2023 18:08

@Cookerhood well whatever you want to call it, it helped heal my liver!

dahliadazed · 06/08/2023 18:09

There are liver reduction diets some have to do before surgery. You could try that for two weeks as a kickstarter and then continue with a low fat diet.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/08/2023 18:33

I lost 2 and a half stone 3 to go) and my ALT went from 44 to 36 - still slightly raised , but only just.

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/08/2023 18:35

I was told to drink coffee by my liver specialist (I don’t unfortunately).

2kidsintow · 07/08/2023 10:48

Thanks for the suggestions. I already drink a lot of coffee!
I've heard about milk thistle and will have a look at some of these other suggestions too.

Check what causes fatty liver disease, and do the opposite! Supplements are not proven, although coffee is recommended on some reputable sites like the British Liver Foundation.
