Lump in armpit

megansmarkle · 05/08/2023 23:36

I have this weird lump, it's not hard and doesn't feel swollen.

I don't want to waste my doctors time but what can I do to get rid of it?

You need to get a doctor to check that, then decide what to do about getting rid of it.
How long has it been like that?

Soozikinzii · 05/08/2023 23:38

I'm.not medical at all but I think you should get that checked by a doctor . Didn't want to scroll by xx

Squarepegroundholee · 05/08/2023 23:39

You’re not wasting anyone’s time. Hopefully just needs draining… Go x

peterpettigrewsladygarden · 05/08/2023 23:41

Does this feel really soft like fat?

I have the same (I've had it for about a year and a half), mine is a little smaller but it turned out to be a lipoma - I think it was caused by wearing too tight bras and it kind of pushed fat out under my armpit 😳

Yes I can push it inside no problem. Prob that!

My friend has them all over his body and he's not fat....

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/08/2023 23:50

Please see your GP.

GrazingSheep · 05/08/2023 23:53

Any lumps should be checked by a doctor.

That’s quite fast growing, if it continues like that it will start to get in your way and become uncomfortable soon. You really need to get it checked, it’s likely to be benign, but until it’s properly checked you can’t be absolutely sure.
Phone on Monday OP.

peterpettigrewsladygarden · 05/08/2023 23:59

@megansmarkle

You don't just get them if you're fat - they're just lumps of fat that can appear if it is a lipoma. I'm not fat but I do wear badly fitting bras which I put it down to!

Still see the GP just to double check x

It's not inflamed, sore or hard

There are many things it could be, no one can possibly tell you here! Go to the doctor have some simple tests, get rid of it, and put your mind at rest.

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/08/2023 00:13

It could be a blocked sweat gland.

JFDIYOLO · 06/08/2023 00:31

It's literally your doctor's job. You won't be wasting their time.

I know you're scared. Chances are it's nothing to worry about and can be dealt with easily, but if it is something,
catching these things early etc all make for an easier treatment, a better chance of recovery if its something bad, and will cost the NHS less to treat than if you continue to leave it to grow.

First thing Monday morning, pick up the phone.

That's an order. I'm waiting for my mammogram results at the moment, so I get it.

It's nothing.

I just want it gone.

No because I want it gone.... and the nhs won't do it. It's not cancerous,

OP posts:
megansmarkle · 07/08/2023 12:14

I've had a lot of health issues recently and blood tests - I have no inflammation so no cancer

OP posts:
gamerchick · 07/08/2023 12:18

Stop assuming the doctor can't help. Go and get it looked at.

Or if you want it gone then go private and have it removed. There's no magic trick anyone can say to get rid of it. You need to know what it is first.

comeondover · 07/08/2023 12:27

What test are you basing this on? You can have cancer with a normal CRP.

RoseAndRose · 07/08/2023 12:31

Any lump that's been hanging around for more than about 3 weeks needs to be checked by a doctor.

That is not a waste of their time

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 07/08/2023 14:14

You’ll most likely find it’s something harmless like a lipoma but, to get to the point of diagnosis, you need to see someone - and that includes even if you’re not worried about what’s caused it and just want it gone.

What about doing an online question to your surgery (if they do such a thing, some do) asking if you can be referred to someone with a view to having it removed? Or you could consider a private GP appointment as a route to accessing a surgeon to remove it.

I'm not "assuming" they can't help. I'm saying I don't think it's a concern and after recent episodes at the GP/nhs I would rather not have more money spent on me.
