Lump in armpit

megansmarkle · 05/08/2023 23:36

I have this weird lump, it's not hard and doesn't feel swollen.

I don't want to waste my doctors time but what can I do to get rid of it?

YukoandHiro · 08/08/2023 09:03

Oh and if you "want it gone" you'll need to see a doctor of some sort anyway to arrange removal. It won't "just go". So get on it.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 08/08/2023 09:07

This must be one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever read here. Absolutely nothing you've said makes any sense. You can have standard blood tests, e.g. a full blood count, and still have cancer. There are multiple cancers that can present with a lump in the armpit areas. You are being warned of this by posters - but you believe yourself to be qualified enough to discount anything serious.

What did you expect people to say? "Ah just whack it with something and it'll disappear no problems"?

You're either incredibly stupid or incredibly scared. If it's the latter then I can understand that, but the longer you ignore the issue the harder it will be to treat - and sitting at home typing yourself up in knots is worse than facing the issue head on. If it's the former, well there's nobody here that can help you.

vivainsomnia · 08/08/2023 10:00

OP, are you being defensive and avoidant because deep inside you are actually petrified?

If so, I give you a big big hug. Speak with someone in real life. Living with this level of denial due to fear is horrendous and believe it that whatever the outcome, you'll feel much better to deal with it.

gamerchick · 08/08/2023 10:10

I also thought maybe the OP is scared. Fear can paralyze a person.

OwlFC · 08/08/2023 11:41

@megansmarkle *off

Absolutely not.

I'm actually not wanting to "waste" doctors time on something that I don't think is an issue.

I had a bleeding lump on my arm that wasn't skin cancer but it was taken out v quickly. I feel bad for wasting the nhs time.

I've been to A&E plenty of times due to being sick - to which there is nothing they can find wrong. Once I had some infection and perhaps sepsis.

I'm getting mental health help,

I'm always going to the doctor and I feel like this is just another thing that I'm getting attention on - I feel like the doctor might think I've got some health anxiety. Lol

Why have you posted on here for advice if you won’t take the advice? How can anyone possibly tell you how to remove it when no one knows what it is. You obviously need to get it checked out. If you cba then don’t post on here and get all defensive, it’s pointless.

vivainsomnia · 08/08/2023 12:39

But how can you be so certain it is nothing when even a GP, after years of training and practice can't reach any definitive conclusion and has to refer to experts and scans to be sure?

etonmess91 · 08/08/2023 12:44

@megansmarkle but you have a visible issue. That's what GP's are there for.

They'd rather you 'waste' their time 10 times and actually find out you're fine than not make an appointment and you have something seriously wrong and it ends up detrimental to your health.

Moonberri · 08/08/2023 12:51

That lump is not normal and no GP is going to think you are wasting their time to have it looked at. They are likely to refer you for scans/tests. I wonder if whatever mental health issue you are dealing with is preventing you from being rational about this? What did you actually hope to gain from this thread? We have been telling you that it could be lymphoma or breast cancer and you ignore that. It will cost the NHS a lot more money if you do turn out to have a serious health issue and you've ignored it.

Bluestripeddress · 08/08/2023 13:15

Some people can’t be helped. Move on!

gamerchick · 08/08/2023 13:17

You can SEE it OP. You're not wasting anyone's time. Go to your GP

SweetPotatoAndPeanutStew · 08/08/2023 13:27

My DM has a very similar lump in a similar place. Painless, soft, fast growing. It was aggressive lymphoma.

Stop being defensive/arrogant and get it seen.

megansmarkle · 08/08/2023 13:52

I've just been to the GP and he said he couldn't see it so won't be referring me any where

OP posts:
MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 08/08/2023 13:53

Ok if you're not going to find out what it is you'll just have to live with it then.

What a pointless post

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 08/08/2023 13:57

Ah crossed post you've been to the GP

Fuckmyliferightnow · 08/08/2023 14:04

You need a second opinion Confused

Littlemissprosecco · 08/08/2023 14:06

I agree, that lump needs checking

Littlemissprosecco · 08/08/2023 14:07

Send the photo in!

A GP can't conclusively say what it is by feeling it or looking at it. They can have an idea but to confirm, they would refer for tests.

I had a lump very low down on my abdomen. Doctor felt it and she said she thought it was a lipoma but to be sure, she would send me for an ultrasound. It confirmed it was a lipoma.

ChiPawPrint · 08/08/2023 14:49

How did you get a GP appointment in under 2 hours?

megansmarkle · 08/08/2023 14:57

ChiPawPrint · 08/08/2023 14:49

How did you get a GP appointment in under 2 hours?

Because I called earlier and they said "can you do X time" so I went.

They have same day appointments

Shayisgreat · 08/08/2023 14:58

I have something similar. Went to the doctor, referred to hospital for ultrasound and it is full of fluid and not cancer. Was told that there's no medical need to drain it so it has just remained there for about 10 years now.

jannier · 08/08/2023 16:41

megansmarkle · 07/08/2023 12:14

I've had a lot of health issues recently and blood tests - I have no inflammation so no cancer

Did you have the tumor marker test for cancer or a routine FBC not all cancer shows on an FBC?
