Hard ugly lump

I've had this for a few years now. It got bigger during COVID when doctor appointments were pretty impossible but I was quite sure it was nothing to worry about. It's been the same size for a while not so no health concern except it looks unsightly.

I doubt NHS would remove this since it is cosmetic. Any advice on what I can do?

LTB. Or put him on a diet.

Where is it?

Pontiouspilate · 04/08/2023 22:58

Looks very minor

By collarbone. I think the photo makes it look better actually, or maybe I'm just a bit self conscious and that's what it actually looks like.

Very vain but it's really obvious when I wear summery tops and I don't like it!

Not exactly the same but I had a 'lump' on my eyelid and the GP wouldn't remove it so I paid for it to be done privately. Had a Consultation then the procedure a week later. All done and it was biopsied and nothing sinister and it hasn't grown back 😊

You can get them removed privately, I had two scalp cysts taken out yesterday. They were painless but ugly and the NHS won't cover them as they're cosmetic.

Worth it even though it's a bit sore it was done in less than 20 mins!

Wow I don't know why I hadn't considered this? How much did it cost roughly?

DS just had a cyst which had been initially diagnosed as a lipoma removed from the back of his head. Classed as cosmetic despite uncomfortable to lay on so had to go private. They didn't even have to shave the head at the site of the cyst. Dissolvable stitches so he didn't need to go back. They rang today and asked if everything was OK.
I have had a dreadful infected cyst removed by the NHS under emergency surgery a couple of years ago. They won't remove cysts unless they become very problematic.
If its no problem I'd leave it alone or pay to have it removed privately but you'll still have a small scar.

I'd imagine that costs vary depending on size, ease of removal and which private practice you decide to you. Book a consultation and they will go through the full costs as part of the consult.

Have you actually had it looked at by your GP to confirm what it is?Our surgery does minor skin surgery procedures.

ladeluge · 05/08/2023 17:57

I was thinking ganglion, and was going to say give him the "bang of a book" to flatten it (well known for ganglions), but you would have knocked him out and nearly killed him!

ladeluge · 05/08/2023 17:59

How did I think it was on yourDP/H??
