Trace! I thought you were writing from the hospital, you need to take this seriously pet, go there NOW!

trace2 · 27/02/2008 18:29

i am just dont want to take him now theres nothing to see! i am still very worried i am still talking to him i want to know whats hurts and so on so i can help him.

he says hes really tired, eyes hurt(but look ok) mouth and throat sore but again not look bad to me,tummy ache, and hes a temp and his back hurts ,but arm and feet ok now sounds like flu to me. but if he gives me reason i will take him i rang nhs last night when his arm was bad, they just said give him pain killers, and let him rest, go to gp in morning.

i dont want to upset him unless i really have to, does that make me a bad mum? i soprt of feel that way!

you are not a bad mum. What harm will it do. Its better to be safe than sorry. What happens if it gets worse in night? What happens if they say you should have brought him in sooner. Take him now. Its too risky not to

trace2 · 27/02/2008 18:52

i know i know but he does seam ok infact better now than last few days! god this is killing me! dh just if we have to we will take him to a&e in night. am not putting him at risk i wouldnt he means the world to me but he is ok!

OP posts:
TotalChaos · 27/02/2008 18:52

can you phone up the ward he was on, ask whether they think you should bring him back?

Flllightattendant · 27/02/2008 18:55

Sorry if I made you feel bad. I really don't think you're a bad mum xx

I was afraid you might just be too embarrassed to bother the hospital, and didn't want you to think that they would be cross with you for going

trace2 · 27/02/2008 18:56

yes never thought of that[blush} they did say if it happens again ring us, or go to a&e, but last time his feet didnt cool down was red all the time, will ring now!

OP posts:
mehdismummy · 27/02/2008 19:03

at least you will put your mind at rest. Let us know

trace2 · 27/02/2008 19:09

Flllightattendant you didnt you are proberly right about me feeling silly if nothing wrong

anyhow i feel better now explained it all how he feels what happened in night and what hes like now, if he gets anyworse no matter what time or if any part of his body does it again go straight in, but to keep his temp down and if nothing happens in night go to gp tell him that i spoke to hospital and he can send him up if he needs to or we can go up first thing in morning, looks like they will do more tests after they see him unless they think its nothing but a bug,

OP posts:
TotalChaos · 27/02/2008 19:12

OP posts:
mehdismummy · 27/02/2008 19:31

that should do the job! Is his temp dropping now? Poor little man. Poor you x

trace2 · 27/02/2008 19:33

it drops but comes back been like this now for about 4 days plus sweaty

OP posts:
mehdismummy · 27/02/2008 19:37

do you still keep giving it even when it goes away?

CrushWithEyeliner · 27/02/2008 19:38

Trace I really really thing you should get him seen immediately, 4 day fever is punishing for a child's body and is a sign that something is wrong. Please don't just dose him with paracetamol - the fever is an indication that something is infected, It will be better for him if he is seen tonight...

ladylush · 27/02/2008 19:44

I personally would take him. I have taken my own ds for less as peace of mind is everything. It is serious if he has had a temp for 4 days. How old is he? My brother was about 4 when he got Kawasaki Disease and was very ill with it. I think he had flu type symptoms initially.

trace2 · 27/02/2008 19:51

please dont you scaring me again i have spoke to hospital they know how long hes had a temp they was more conserned about if any other part of his body went red and hot again! hes sat here reading his school book so i know hes ok hes 5

OP posts:
CrushWithEyeliner · 27/02/2008 20:04

it's just to rule it out that's all - just to put your mind at rest. It just doesn't sound right to me but hey I don't want to scare you sorry..

ladylush · 27/02/2008 20:04

Ok trace - it's your call and I agree mum knows best. Was just saying what I would do in your shoes - not what you should do iyswim. If he is reading a book it sounds as if he is ok but the continous fevers are concerning and I think you need to find out what is causing it.

HereComeTheGirls · 27/02/2008 20:55

I think if you have explained it to the hospital and they said to keep an eye on him then you should prob take their advice IMHO

HereComeTheGirls · 27/02/2008 20:56

But I just read more carefully and see that you are not able to keep the temp down - since they told you to do that and it isn't coming down I would actually call them again and explain this

Flllightattendant · 28/02/2008 06:29

A fever for 4 days would send me into panic mode I'm afraid, it really would. Fevers SHOULD NOT go on that long without some intervention.

Please let us know if he had an OK night, are you seeing the Dr this morning? Please make sure he knows the nurofen etc is NOT helping as the temp comes back up again.

Please don't let your Dr fob you off without more tests. If you don't stand up for him Trace, nobody else will - you have to be a pushy bolshy mum for a day or two
