Experiences with Mirena coil please

I have had the coil in for 2.5 years. In which time I've never had a period, so I suppose I lost track of my cycle. I'm on the coil to manage severe long, heavy painful periods which were making me poorly.

I was pretty happy with it at first, but I'm now concerned I'm now experiencing symptoms. I've struggled for a bit with bouts of fatigue and cramping. Very oily, spotty skin, low mood, sore boobs, etc.

I've just come out of a 11 day period of this which has to be the worst yet. Extreme fatigue, so tired I'm struggling to function, falling asleep on the sofa, just generally want to cry, sore boobs, terrible skin, low irritable mood, aching joints and muscles cramping in my lower abdomen.

Today I feel much better. My boobs suddenly don't hurt. I've more energy, feel generally better etc. And it's perhaps belatedly occurred to me it could be hormone related. As stated above I don't have periods any more, since the coil was inserted, so have lost track of any cycles, and assumed I wasn't really having one. I do spot very midly but nothing much else. And only occasionally. But I did spot this morning, so wondered if I've just had the mother of all pmt?

I was wondering what other people experiences are. The fatigue I've just experienced isn't sustainable. I have a 5 year old, I'm a single Mum and I have 2 dogs. I have a busy active life and a busy demanding job. I cannot afford to not be able to effectively function. However coming off of the coil isn't ideal either, due to ongoing issues with my periods, which I have spent most of my adult life desperately trying to manage (I was having periods 3 out of 4 weeks, very consistently heavy, I had issues with low iron and iron absorption, something I don't want to go back to). The coil was a bit of a final chance to manage the situation. I've tried the implant which made me very depressed, as do a number of variations of the pill.

Has anyone else experienced this on the mirena coil, or is it something else?

If you’re spotting, you’re probably still cycling, so will get PMt symptoms.
How old are you ?

@DustyLee123 I'm 34. I only very occasionally spot, and it's really nothing, so I've not really taken a huge amount of notice.

I'm not sure about the coil. I think it's possible those are side effects and you should speak to your doctor.

If you have it removed get a referral to a gynaecologist who will probably suggest an ablation.
