Period problems

I get a 'cold' nearly every month on day one of my period, sometimes just a tickly throat, sometimes, like now, a full on heavy cold, cough, sore throat.
They are also so heavy with large clots, I have to set an alarm at night to change my mooncup every 2 hours, same during the day, 2 hours and it's full.
I also get this strange symptom which a doctor has never been able to explain - most months, not all, on day 2/3 I get an intense pelvic pain that makes me cry out and I bleed really heavily, I have to just sit on the toilet for about 45 mins until it passes, if I used the mooncup I'd need to change it every 10/15 mins, maybe even more.
My periods rule my life, I've just worked out I'm next due on when we're on holiday and I'm dreading it. The tablets from the doctor to delay periods didn't work for me and I can't take any hormone tablets like the pill.
Thanks for reading!

Personally, I’m not sure that holding the blood/clots helps. When I’ve used just towels I’ve had less pain.
How old are you, I ask because having the mirena coil has been life changing, and I wish I’d had it years ago.

I'm 42, this all started when I had my coil removed about 6 years ago.
I don't get pain with my period, only when I'm having the strange 45min episode

I would get pains when using a tampax sometimes, and taking it out helped.
Perhaps consider getting the Mirena again, it should stop or at least reduce your periods, so the pain too.
