Straining bowel movements and itchy anus

I know what a lovely subject.

just over 6 weeks ago I suddenly had constipation which was extremely unusual for me. Over the next 2 weeks I hardly had any bowel movements and the few times I did they weren’t formed and reduced in volume. Since then they seem to be formed now but I pretty much always have to strain in order to have a movement and my anus is very itchy.

anyone have experience of this.

Go to Dr – could be IBD or IBS related (or something else).

Can be related to haemorrhoids also. Any new lumpy bits?

Itchy anus is usually piles.

Could it be a reaction to dairy? This is an uncommon symptom!

I thought that as well but I don’t feel anything hanging down so to speak and no blood.

The advice is always not to ignore any change in bowel habit so probably as well to discuss with GP or practice nurse. In meantime try a smear of sudocrem to sooth the itch.
