What bite is this?

I got bitten at the beach today under my arm. It is white and lumpy in the middle and a bit red round the edges. It feels sore when I rub my hand over it. It is about the size of the top of my thumb. Any ideas?

On a beach I'd guess sandfly bites? If it's itchy I'd use Anthisan or hydrocortisone cream and take an antihistamine.

Keep an eye on the redness, if it spreads you may need antibiotics.

looks a bit like a horse fly to me

I don't know what sort of bite it is but how is it this morning? Do you think the redness has spread, or is it looking better?
If it's still as red or is getting worse then draw around the edge of the redness so that you can monitor if it's spreading and get it looked at
