GERD?

Every few weeks I have started to suffer from what I think might be some sort of reflux/GERD. It starts with feeling very full, even after a few mouthfuls, and becomes nauseating, uncomfortably so. It gets to the point that I contemplate making myself sick to relieve it.
I also get acid/heartburn type feeling and when I burp (sorry) it sounds ‘wet’ and, like gurgly and comes out like a growl.
Im suffering at the moment and can barely eat. My stomach is hungry because it’s grumbling, but at the same time I feel absolutely stuffed full. I know I can’t be full as I have hardly eaten a thing today after a dreadfully uncomfortable night.
I am not overweight and have a relatively decent diet, not much fatty food though I do like sweet things so I do have biscuit or a muller yoghurt after a meal. I don’t think it’s diet related is what I’m trying to say.

What causes this? I’ve found it goes after a few days, though sometimes the heartburn remains, but ramps back up again a week or so later.

I have this. I've had it for years. You have all the classic symptoms. It's extremely common. GERD, acid reflux, indigestion, dyspepsia... All names for the same thing really.

It can be caused by diet, stress, certain medications.
You'd be surprised what foods can cause it. For me, things like acidic fruit, spicy foods, tomatoes/tomato based meals, flavoured crisps, anything with vinegar/pickles, onions, garlic, orange juice. It isn't fatty foods that cause it a lot of the time.

Your best bet would be to see your GP. They can prescribe you some (honestly magical) medicine which will sort it right out! I take lansoprazole, but usually omeprazole is the first one they prescribe. Have you tried OTC things like gaviscon?

@Daisythecat15 How long did your Gp say you could take Lansoprazole for?
Im about to ask for another course, as like you say it is magical!

Thanks for your reply. I’ve been taking Gaviscon and it gives some minor temporary relief. Think I’ll book a GP visit.

I’m a Gerd expert! All GP will do is give you omeprazole which comes with its own issues. Ask to be tested for h pylori, look up acid watcher diet - you will then see that what you’re eating is making things worse. Indigestion is not the same as Gerd. Gerd is severe reflux and can lead to inflammation and other horrors!
