hyperthyroidism

I've recently gained access to my medical notes and noticed from previous blood tests that my Serum TSH levels, while within normal range, are quite low and getting lower:

2021 - TSH level of 0.67 miu/L
2022 - TSH level of 0.57 miu/L

Anyone in the know who can tell me whether this is a concern? Am I heading towards hyperthyroidism? Can anything be done to increase the numbers?

Thanks.

I think you need to look at your labs reference range. Eg North Bristol lab has changed.

Reference range: Note new reference ranges from 14/11/22: TSH: 0.38 -5.33 mU/L

What is your T4 reading @Chimchimcharooo ? And how do you feel?

Chimchimcharooo · 29/07/2023 21:55

@Twothousandandjustonemore Do the ranges vary between trusts? I wouldn't know how to check tbh.

@Swanhilde As far as I'm aware I they didn't do a T4 screen. I've been getting irregular heartbeats - not fast but out of sync and fluttering plus feeling very tired. The bloods were taken because of the heart issues.

In order to know if your thyroid is hyperactive, you'll need to ask for a full thyroid panel, @Chimchimcharooo .

My TSH is currently 0.54 (below the bottom of my range) but my T4 is 17 so I feel fine. I have Graves disease but it is controlled by medication.

Tiredness and palpitations are classic symptoms, so definitely worth asking. Especially as it looks like your readings are 12 months old.

Thanks @Swanhilde the last bloods waere over a year ago now, yes, so I'll get back to the surgery and request they run some more.

For over a year i was adamant I had a thyroid problem but bloods had never picked it up at all!! I then notice a lump in my neck so did GP so referred to ENT. By the time I seen them and got a scan on neck. Radiographer picked up that I've got scarring in thyroid and it's not a butterfly shape anymore and that I've had some sort of thyroiditis at the time of swelling. Even though no bloods showed it. That was November last year! Took ill again in June this time bloods picked up overactive thyroid. Visible lump again. Got started on a small dose medication to bring it down. I've now ended up with iatrogenic hypothyroidism and not allowed on any medication for it yet. And the lump is still there!!! I am so drained. In June my CA125 showed dramatically high at 394!! I also have cysts within womb and ovary. (Ovary cyst been there for 2 years) had numerous ultrasounds, ct and mri awaiting results has anyone had similar?
