Recurrent quinsy

I had quinsy 8 weeks ago for the first time in 20 years. also had it early twenties.

I’ve now got it again - it started on Tuesday - by wed I was in agony and now I’m in a Greek hospital because I’m on holiday.

Wtf is going on here? Why does it keep coming back? What can I do? I can’t keep doing this every 8 weeks! Each episode requires hospital care as antibiotics alone won’t shift it.

should I push for tonsils out?

This happened to me.

First one in my teens, then nothing for 12 years, then just a constant run of them, with the symptoms coming on more quickly each time. It reached the point where I was admitted to hospital and put on IV antibiotics immediately.

The only solution was tonsils out. Felt rough after but it solved the problem.

Definitely worth getting an ENT referral and asking about tonsillectomy.

Thanks. Did you ever get to the bottom of why it was happening or link it to anything?
