Blood Test Queries

I'm 44 and had a recent raft of blood tests inc FBC. They have all come back normal as in their reference ranges. But ESR, CRP and platelet count is marked abnormal. I had a message to call the surgery and they said a dr requested a call back but the earliest time was 2-3 weeks! She said it wasnt marked urgent, but that they needed to talk to me. I managed to get a f2f appointment a week today. Needless to say, google is not helping, it's going to be a long week.

I've been overweight all my life and when I've had ESR and CRP tests done before, they've always been slightly elevated but nothing has ever been done. I have now lost a fair amount of weight but still have very painful knees and suffer with neck ache a lot, so wondering if that is anything to do with the inflamation markers being raised. My serum folate is on the bottom end of normal and I am now taking iron tablets.

The abnormal results are below

CRP
14 mg/L (range 0-10)

ESR
61 mm/h (range 1-20)

Platelet count
404 x10*9/L (range 120-400)

I've had slightly raised platelets in the past but they went back to normal with a retest.

Should I be unduly worried?

Thanks

Could be inflammation or infection. Did they do a kidney function test or liver function test too?

u maybe need further tests to see if you have an autoimmune illness causing your painful joints?

tests are usually used along side symptoms. So your symptoms will support any out of range results to need further eras maybe

Thanks Grenola. I went with perimenopausal symptoms so they started with these bloods. Kidney and liver were done back in March for a different reason and were fine then. I do have an under active thyroid which is controlled well with medication.
