Face paint stain/allergy?

Ds has had his face painted beautifully at school today, but he wanted to wipe it all off as soon as he got home.

I have removed all of the paint, but he has been left with marks where one colour was (it was red, if that makes any difference!) The other colours came off very easily, but either the red has stained his skin or it has irritated it. He says it doesn't itch though (?)

Has anyone got any ideas what I can try to get rid of it please, whatever it is? I don't want him to have to go to school with the remains of a clown's mouth/nose/eyebrows tomorrow!

baby oil or make up remover on cotton wool

ds2 loves to get his face painted and i have found that the colours red and yellow are always a pita to get off, which when he always chooses to be a lion (yellow) or spiderman (red) is a pita. we just wash and then use a moisturising cream with cotton wool but it generally takes a day or so for his face to go back to normal.

I have tried a basic moisturiser on cotton wool. Nothing came off at all.

The skin looks a bit odd, slightly puffy under where the red paint was. I am more inclined to think that it's a reaction now, especially as I just caught ds rubbing his mouth... "no, Mum. It isn't itchy"
He's had his face painted before and had no problems, and hasn't got any known allergies.

Thank you for your super quick advice though
