DS2 is 16 months, he has 4 teeth, the first of which arrived the day before his birthday.
He doesn't show signs of getting any more..

DS1 had loads of teeth by now.. they have been different in every other respect so I hadn't really thought about it too much. However, I am not wondering if this is within the boundaries of normal.

I think it's still within the normal range. Ds2 is 18 months and although he's had 4 front top teeth and 2 bottom front teeth for some time, he's just cut 4 molars and I think one of the front bottom (where he ought to have 4 already but doesn't) in the space of about 3 weeks.

I don't think you need to worry.

DD also got her first tooth just before her birthday. 2 and 3 came shortly after, 4 took a while longer. The next four all came quite close together. She is 21 months and has just cut her 12th tooth-the last four have suddenly appeared over a 2 week period after not showing any signs for ages.

ds didn't get his first two until 15 months- then no more until 18 months. (He gummed everything to death bless him). He is now 3.3 and we are still waiting for his last molar to come through .

I thought they'd pop up quite regularly too but it seems not. Maybe have a chat with your dentist if you are still worried in a few months, sounds pretty ok to me (from my experience).

My DS sounds the same as yours JJ. He got his first teeth one week before his first birthday, until last week (16 months) he still only had four, but another two arived over the w/e. DD was similarly slow, but so was I and my mum had no teeth until she was over 1 year old - it must run in the family.

Well I never,
messing around in the bath tonight stuck hand into DS2's mouth and found 2 back teeth that have come through in the last 48 hours!
can't believe I found them the day I posted this message
