Outing so I have changed name but I need some advice.

I've had my big toe nail removed twice, both done via local anaesthetic and both times told it wouldn't grow back in any way. Last time I had it done was around 7 year ago.

Not only has it grown back since, it's also extremely large, and black/grey. It's horrible. But it wasn't painful so I never went back to the doctors with it.

This morning I kicked something and it's knocked slightly, bled instantly for a good while but the bleeding stopped. Anyway all day my nail is throbbing, it feels like it's going to come off any minute but DH has had a feel and said it isn't loose.

If it's not loose now what is the likely hood of it falling off?
Also I'm really susceptible to skin/wound infections, do you think it's worth me going to the minor injuries tomorrow to get it cleaned and dressed?

I think you can wash and dress it yourself at home. These things are a wait and see issue. I’ve lost nails before due to injuries and find it takes a good few weeks to know if the nail will come away or not, you need to let it heal and take it from there. Be wary of keeping the nails wet, you’d be better to salt bath it and let it air with some savlon etc rather than bandage it up to avoid weeping and infections
