Tongue twitching should I worry?

Anyone else’s tongue twitch? Mine started about 2 months ago and it’s getting worse and I’m now getting them in other places as well. Seen a gp who referred me to a neurologist which has worried me more. It’s like there’s a piece of string pulling my tongue up and down really quickly in certain spots. Looking to calm my nerves I suppose because I’m quite scared!

Yes, exactly this has been happening to my tongue for the last 4 weeks. It’s scaring me.

I have also been referred to a neurologist and i’m so scared there is something seriously wrong.

How did you get on? Has it stopped for you now?

I am 4 months in now and I still get it. I’m also getting it on my legs, arms etc. I’ve not got any other symptoms. It started after a sort of cold virus and just hasn’t went away. I’ve still not got a neurology appointment yet either. Did your doctor who referred you seem concerned ?

I’m sorry to hear that it has continued, I so hope this doesn’t last that long 😭 Are you still as anxious or has that worry passed?
Is it on one place on the tongue? Have you recently had a stressful time?

They didn’t seem overly worried and said it was likely Benign fasciculations syndrome but we should get it checked. He said I would be waiting a long time for a neurology appointment.
He prescribed me an SSRI for the anxiety but I am still breastfeeding and hesitant to take it.

@user112233866 I don’t feel as anxious but I do still get waves of worry about it sometimes I just try not to think about it. It started in one place which is like a hotspot but I do feel it other places on my tongue as well. I have suffered badly with anxiety my whole life and before it happened I had several illness thanks to my wee boy in nursery as well so I don’t know what has triggered it. Do you have it anywhere else ? Is it everyday constant or just randomly ?

@Har261129 We have had our fair share of viruses this winter.
It’s one place on my tongue and it happens every day, I seem to have one good day and a bad day and it happens multiple times a hour. It always starts at around the same time 8am, couple of hours after I wake. Mornings seem to be the worst 😭 I hope my anxiety subsides, the worry and fear are crippling me some days.
My eyes twitch and sometimes I notice my right hand twitching.

Do you have it anywhere else?
