have been told my test results are inconclusive - is this because of a previous infection?

i went back to the clinic today - the results weren't inconclusive but equivocal which means i will go back and get re-tested i didn't re-test today as having AF but they were willing to do it.
It is possible that my previous infection didn't respond fully to the anti-biotics - which is un-common but possible.
