If the GPs and A+E staff don’t know then I certainly don’t.

I’m at the end of my tether. I don’t honestly expect strangers on the internet to know but she’s in so much pain and I feel so helpless.

The pain started as an ache at the front of her ankle on one side about 3 months ago and since then has spread up to her kidneys.

So far tests have ruled out DVT, gout, arthritis, osteoporosis.

Since May she has gone from a reasonably active 75 year old (driving, gardening, socialising) to needing a stick to get around the house and only leaving once a week (accompanied) to get basic groceries. The pain is so bad it takes her breath away and makes her vomit.

We are now awaiting an MRI scan.

GPs have prescribed various painkillers and we are back for another review next week. They are kind but it feels as though we are getting nowhere.

Does anyone have any similar experience/ knowledge?

I’m wondering if it could be a side effect to medication but GP says no as this wouldn’t just affect one part of the body.

Thanks for reading.
