Hello, I’m still waiting for the doctors to call me it’s been a few days. I’ve been having on and off pain in my lower right side of tummy since I had my c section in January. It feels like it’s painful where my kidney would be but the pain comes and goes. Anyway, I had my test results back, would you say there’s a problem? Any advice appreciated

Hello, if anyone comes across this and is in a similar situation the doctor has booked more bloods and ultrasound on my liver.

Good that they’re seeing you further. Your alkaline phosphatase is way too high. For info, mine was really high when I had a pelvic abscess post hysterectomy. Did you have full blood count done too?

Mumtobe888 · 18/07/2023 18:44

@Politepain yes they came back I think they look ok. I’m really worried! I don’t drink, I’ve only had one gin since my son was born so im not sure what’s happening. I feel well in myself other than the occasional pain in lower right side!

It’s good that you feel ok! Yes, your bloods look in range? I was wondering about c reactive protein which shows inflammation. I hope the gp was able to reassure you.

Mumtobe888 · 18/07/2023 19:04

@Politepain how did you know to have your bloods checked? I feel worried sick to be honest, I think my mind has gone to worst case scenario! GP said it’s either my liver or I’m sure he said bones. My blood test is next Tuesday so it’s going to be an anxious wait

I’m sorry you’re worried - hopefully someone can come along to reassure you.
I was really sick with fevers etc - was an infection and apparently your alkaline phosphatase can rise with abdominal infections. It’s good you feel well in yourself. Could it be something like fatty liver? Try not to worry - if your GP had been overly concerned they would have taken bloods / referred you straight away.

SonnySideDown · 18/07/2023 19:42

Are you overweight or drink a lot of alcohol? Could just be something simple as your liver being what they call fatty. That throws off liver function tests.

Mumtobe888 · 18/07/2023 21:50

@SonnySideDown ive only had one drink since my son was born in January so I’m not sure it’s that. I did put on 6 stone when I was pregnant and 3 has come off, I’m now 13st and finding it really hard to lose anymore weight!

I've had very similar blood test results recently. Just awaiting results of MRI as the ultrasound was inconclusive. Looks like a blocked bile duct. Dr thinks gallstones most likely cause but it could be a growth too. Thus the MRI. It's perfectly normal to worry. I've had a few sleepless nights but chances are we will both be ok. I get strange pains in right and left sides with bloating and nausea.

I wish you well and fingers crossed they find out what's wrong quickly

I am having the same problems. Alk phosphate high. Had liver scan last week. All fine. Having to have repeat bloods every 6 weeks. I am a non drinker also. I do have osteoarthritis, don't know if that's relevant. 168 is high but my doc told me some people get readings of over 300. NAFLD is looking likely.

hopsalong · 18/07/2023 23:37

This is concerning. You need to take these test results to your GP asap. The one that would worry me most is the ALT. Mine was elevated to 40 after pregnancy for no obvious reason (normally about 20, and I normally drink quite a bit!) and the GP was concerned. Over 100 is a sign of some kind of liver problem, and it's something the GP will take seriously.
