Mirena coil and back ache

I had a mirena coil fitted last summer to help with heavy periods.
The insertion was OK, I was bit achey for about a week and I've had minimal periods since 🥳
The problem is that over the past few weeks I've had persistent lower back ache. A bit like period cramps and I've been spotting. I can't find the strings. I never have found the strings but wasn't concerned before as I wasn't experiencing any pain or bleeding.
I'm also low on iron at the moment and just feel drained and fed up of having a sore back.
I don't know whether to just keep taking painkillers and try and find the strings in a few days or to just get it taken out and go back to heavy periods!
My GP surgery are the type to keep fobbing you off unless you're dying so I get quite anxious about ringing. It took me blacking out at work several times to finally get a check up and get some iron tablets for my low iron levels.

When I questioned back ache with the Mirena I was told it could be in the wrong position. Position was checked and I had an ultrasound to confirm

Thankyou, I think I should get it checked out for peace of mind. Did you have the check and ultrasound at the same time?
