Is there a nasty virus going around at the moment - not Covid?

HI, I had Covid about six weeks ago but I have become ill with bad head pain, neck pain, sore throat and feeling exhausted. It started with a sore throat which lasted for about four days and now I have these other symptoms. Not really picking up as I would expect at this stage but resting as much as possible. I wondered if there is something nasty doing the rounds and others have had this or if it could be connected with the Covid I had previously. I have been pushing myself a bit recently and wondered if perhaps I had not fully recovered and was having a relapse. I tested today and I am negative for Covid. Thanks.

I think your spot on as you’re still recently recovering from covid anything else picked up will probably take a bit longer to shake off.

I had covid 3 weeks ago (got it REALLY badly this time- was wiped out/so ill for a solid 3 days) and now seem to have picked up another bug (incredibly painful throat that paracetamol and aspirin isn't doing much for plus flu symptoms).

I thought maybe it was because I'm 4 month's postpartum and run down but could well be the 'vid. My husband hasn't caught anything. Hoping so much this is the last bug as usually quite resilient (I've also had covid before and it was super mild so was shocked at how ill it made me this time round).

I got struck down very suddenly this week by what feels exactly like covid - sore throat, dry cough, sneezing, temperature. Covid Tests all negative.

When I called in sick my boss told me she was going home as she had it, too, and it seems lots of people in my organisation have similar symptoms. A very infectious summer cold?

My DD has a very high temp at the weekend and has been complaining of a sore throat since. She seems OK in herself other than the throat and is eating etc..... 3 x covid tests all negative.

Two weeks ago I suddenly started with fever and really sore throat. Lasted a few days and thought I was over it but then a week later fever was back with awful headaches and neck pain and still can't shake it off.

Everyone I know who has ever had Covid had a shockingly bad cold/flu/virus thing within a few weeks of recovery that's been worse than Covid. I think Covid fucks with your immune system and so the next thing that comes along absolutely wipes you out. It took me about six months to feel 100% right after having Covid.

I’ve come down with a sore throat that has turned into some sort of flu like illness - temperature but also shivering and also tucked up under a blanket.

LakeFlyPie · 13/07/2023 00:15

Yep, I had shivery, feeling hot / cold symptoms (no actual raised temp), sore throat, fatigue and nausea which lingered for 3-4 days. Regular paracetamol kept a lid on it. Seem to have finally shaken it off now thankfully. Covid LFT -ve

Nomoreheroics · 13/07/2023 00:22

I had this twice in the months after I had Covid. I am never normally ill but it wiped me out both times for weeks.

galliton · 13/07/2023 00:24

Wow, sorry to hear so many of you have been/are unwell but there does seem to be a connection with Covid recovery. Has anyone had severe ear pain, too, which radiates to the jaw, head and neck? Paracetamol is barely touching it.

Sounds like Long Covid to me

galliton · 13/07/2023 00:30

Yes me and my daughter have it at the moment. We are on day 5 and only just starting to feel a little better. The sore throat and blocked nose. We've hardly slept because of our sinuses. Cold shivers and feeling completely run down. Not felt this poorly in a long time. We both tested negative for covid

galliton · 13/07/2023 12:12

Just been to the GP and he has confirmed a virus and a raging middle ear infection which needs treating.

Hope everybody feels much better soon.
