Hello

In the middle of jan i had my top wisdom tooth out, this was fine no problems and no pain, on monday i had to have my tooth out which was next to this wisdom tooth. Took the dentist 30 mins of pulling and oh my god it hurt. Anyway the dentist said it would hurt a bit for a few days, but i still have the pain today as bad as the day i had it taken out. I'm taking nurofen every 4 hours because the pain is so bad. Please tell me this is normal, i cant really afford another bill like i had on moday.

pandagirl, go back to your dentist.
you may have what's known as a dry socket- it's incredibly painful. had one myself a while ago so you have my complete sympathy if it is one.
they will pack it with an anti-biotic stuff which helps a LOT.
it happens when a clot doesn't form properly in the hole and it can't heal very well.

are you paying privately or NHS?
if you are NHS you won't have to pay again, any more work done within 3 months (for the same problem and under the same price band) will be covered by the initial payment

I had a top tooth extracted which the dentist had a lot of touble getting out.I was like you in a lot of pain and it went on for about ten days.I rung the surgery and they recommended warm salt water mouth wahes and to rub bonjela onto the outside of the gum where the tooth had been extracted but not in the cavity.Hope you feel better soon, you have my sympathy.

it was private, cost me £90 to have it removed . I will ring them tom, i can not bear the pain any more and im sure its not good taking pain killers like this for over a week.
