I was stung by a bee 9 days ago and seems like it's got infected. Been prescribed 500mg x 4 a day. I've had four tablets so far, and feel like I've been hit by a sledgehammer, with horrible heartburn thrown in for good measure.
I know the heartburn is a common side effect, but has anyone else had the extreme tiredness with them?

yep, they are horrid antibiotics. Four times a day, two hours after food or an hour before?! I struggled with eating as seemed to be in the wrong pattern for getting four tablets consumed in one day. Managed 6 days on them before I gave up. I was so tired and had awful stomach ache. I am spending the rest of summer covered up as can’t face being bitten or stung again.

Hubby has just finished a course of these after developing a cellulitis (sp?) infection in his leg. He found them brutal to take, fitting them around mealtimes & the effect on his stomach/bowels. He was absolutely knackered with them too. It cleared the infection though so suppose it did the job

I've just had cellulitis on both legs and had to take flucloxacillin and phenoxymethylpenicillin together; I'm afraid I cheated and had a dry biscuit or cracker a few minutes before taking the tablets as I find that helps with the awful indigestion flucloxacillin causes.

That's so helpful everyone thanks. Glad to know it's not just me then!! I've had the GP googling side effects in front of me this morning saying it's very unusual... sounds like not the case at all! I've been given some other ones to try and will see how I get on with them. Like you say, spacing them out and managing to eat is tricky! Or it wouldn't be if you had life to get on with too!

Searched this on mumsnet cause Google shows nothing. So glad I’m not alone. I’m so f*ing tired.

Hi I am currently on fluclox for 2x skin abcesses. I have a skin condition named HS ( can't even spell the correct term lol) god I am so tired, beyond tired infact. Terrible headaches and feel like general shit tbh. I can't have many broad spectrum antibiotics and the other ones used for a skin infection as I have a heart condition. Have you a weeks course? X
