I had bloods done yesterday morning in hospital for my PCOS. For the record I had to fast for these.
I had to take norethisterone for 10 days prior to force a period - which didn't work but I absolutely felt the side effects of the medication and have had severe pains that felt like period cramps, but no bleed.
The nurse doing my bloods said my consultant had a lot of requests and that she was going to have to take a lot, which didn't bother me as I'm not bad with needles or squeamish. However a few seconds in I felt like I was going to be sick, then my vision went completely black except for the corner of my eye, my ears were ringing and I was shaking like a leaf.
I told the nurse I felt sick, and was squeezing her hand to try and focus on not fainting and then I had 3 nurses panicking around me whilst they asked for a doctor for help. I didn't end up fainting, but things just stayed like that for a few minutes and then it settled. For the rest of the day and even still today I've been shaking and still feel nauseous, but I've had a severe migraine since yesterday evening too.
I have blood pressure problems (sometimes it's very high, others quite low) and know that PCOS affects blood sugars, so I don't know if that's what brought the migraine and reaction on or maybe the shock/stress/panic of the whole incident? I never had any problems with blood tests before and I've had them done many times, just not on this scale.
Has anyone else experienced a severe migraine after bloods? I have a follow up appointment with my GP in a few days so we'll discuss it then but I'm just interested to see
