Constantly ill, this surely can’t be normal

for context - I had Covid in feb when I was on maternity leave which hit me very very hard, I hadn’t been that ill in years. I have an autoimmune disease which is in remission but I take immunosuppressants.

my Daughter started nursery in march when I went back to work and since then I’ve been constantly ill, catching everything she has.
I’ve had constant coughs

a few chest infections
two eye infections
last week I had a stomach bug and had to take time off work
and now my cough has come back and developed into a full on cold.

im at my wits end, I have had to cancel countless things, tell work I had to wth because of my constant coughs, my husband is getting annoyed at me because I’m always ill.
I take vitamins, I eat healthily. I know the doctors will say my blood cells are low because they always are.

is this Normal when baby starts nursery?? I’m so down.

It sounds normal to me. I have a DS at nursery and am on immunosuppressants for an autoimmune condition. In the last few months, I've had D&V x 2, tonsillitis x 2, pneumonia, a dental infection, an ear infection and conjunctivitis. It's shit but when you've got a messed up immune system, there's not much you can do other than try and minimise exposure which is pretty much impossible when you have a young child!

I was ill with every bug going for nearly a year when my DD started nursery. It does get better, hang on in there.

Sorry you are poorly OP, but I agree with other posters, when you have little ones you tend to catch everything of them. Flowers

I don't have an autoimmune disorder but still I have been sick constantly in last 23 weeks i've been pregnant and he started nursery at the same time - D&V three times and the flu(?) just since he's been at nursery! Pregnancy suppresses the immune system so i'm puting it down to that. Parter of course never is ill.

Childhoodnostalgia · 08/07/2023 16:19

I wonder if your immune suppressants are something to do with it - do you have regular blood tests? I know it shows in mine when my immune system is struggling.

Immunosuppressants make you more vulnerable to any infection, not just covid.
Nurseries are just germ pools. My DC were ill so much that I used all my holidays on their sick days. It gets a bit better at school but they still bring bugs home. Even heatlthy teachers get a lot more bugs than other people.
