Hi all,

I would like some advice, I came off the contraceptive pill chritmas 06 since then i have had no period, I have been to my doctor who has run a few tests and everything came back ok apart from one of the things She was testing which was slightly low in something (sorry cnt remember the name ) She's not concerned at the moment and says she could give me some hormone injections to kick start me! She thinks I will come on in time and says it can take some women a long time from stopping the pill to having a period, Im also a gym fanatic and eat very well this i was thinking could have something to do with it so i completly cut down down on my exercising but stil nothing, has anyone else had anything similar?

Are you actually trying to conceive? I was only on the pill for two years and was very irregular for about a year afterwards but we did not try to conceive straight away so it was not a problem. Have never got really regular since though anyway (and had no problems conceiving twice )
Are you very thin? Low body fat can affect these things. If I were you I would go back to the GP and ask for a referral to a gynaecologist, if she refuses, ask for a second opinion.

Yes I too have read that a BMI less than 18.5 can make menstrual cycle irregular or stop. Ideal weight for height gives BMI between 19 and 25 ish.
www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/adult_BMI/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.htm to calculate yours!
I recently came off the pill and started periods straight away although I read it can take a while, but 1 year seems quite a long time.
