8 hours sleep a night - anyone in?

I've been reading/listening to talks about how important sleep is, how exercise and diet are important but sleep is also key foundation.

I have cleaned up my diet and do exercise but my sleep is so variable and averaging about 5-5.5 hours a night. I was okay on this then recently got a little poorly and realised I really am not doing myself a service. Last night hit 8 hours and feel 80% better...so I thought bite the bullet while I am motivated and commit to trying to get 8 hours (on the basis that some night I will hit 7 or even 6.5 but maybe hopefully recoup with 9 on a weekend 😅).

It could be all a stack of lies as I am 43 and apparently sleep declines in the 40s but I really need to try.

So is anyone up for sharing what time they went to bed, woke up and how much sleep they had?

I was hoping it might help with making small changes and controlling as much as I can wrt sleep.

I went to bed at 1.30am and got up at 5am. I have chronic pain so this dictates how much sleep I get. It doesn't matter what I do in terms of diet etc . Sometimes I will go for a nap and then I can get another hour. I would love 8 hours sleep!

I think napping is a good strategy and I would definitely include the nap in the total. Does time you go to bed help or do you find you wake in the middle of the night and have to get up?

I would love 8 hours a night but I go to bed at 10pm ish. Lie awake fidgeting, hot flushes and mind racing and normally fall asleep around 1-2am. Woken up by husband going the toilet around 3am. Then woken again when he gets up around 7am. It really affects my mental health to the point I have started going into the spare room to have a decent night. He isn’t happy about it but it’s making me miserable and exasperating my health issues.
