Posted a thread last week about how DS1 has a rash on his face and I had the same rash all over my body. It was red and itchy and had very swollen joints and pain.
Anyway, DS2 has now got it. He had a bit of a cold, then this morning has woken with the rash all over his body, face, behind his ears etc. He seems very hot, and his eyes look really heavy and sore.He has a cough and is quite snotty
I know it's probably what DS1 and I had, but can slapped cheek cause a child to feel so ill, or could it be something else? Ds1 only had the rash and nothing else, he was fine, no aches or pains, no itch, no temperature or anything

Links not coming up Saltire.

how is he in himself? if drowsy/not drinking etc call doc straight away

measles - koplik spots are difficult to see and appear before start of rash and for a day or two after rash has started. illness starts with cough/conjunctivitis/malaise/fever and then rash develops starting behind ears spreasding to face and then body. will try and find a pic.

non specific viral rashes are also common and you can feel really unwell with them.

however if i were you to err on side of caution - fever and rash - needs to be seen by doc unless hes jumping around and normal self. call out of hours doc. thats what its there for. better to get proper diagnosis!

sorry am shit at links

however we can't diagnose over internet - needs to be seen in person - go see a doc!

good luck

Is the rash rough to touch like sandpaper Saltire? Scarlet Fever gives you a flushed face (except around the mouth) and a rough feel to the skin, and can make you feel very unwell.

Saltire - please keep us informed. Really wishing you well x

Well it's not Measles!. DR not sure if its Slapped Cheek or "a non specific virus". I'm inclined to go with slapped cheek, although he does have the rash on other parts of his body. As for the sore eyes, cough etc, the doc said they were just a cold, which might, or might not have triggered the virus/slapped cheek.
My rahs ahs almost gone, I jsut have a bit of it on my legs, and still ahve swollena nd sore wrist joints.
Might keep him off school tomorrow - can see that going down well with my boss

DH has just called from work to say he is developing the rash as well. SO I'm prepared now for him to have the rash/pains etc far worse than anyone else

Well DSes rash ahs changed, it's no longer the bright red type rash that DS1 and I ahd, it more patchy, blotchy type thing. Still very red in the face, but ove rhis body it has changed, it almost looks brown in places,a dn to be honest, it looks worse than it did they other day when he was at the doctor. However, he is otherwise fine. he is quite warm, but doesn't have a temp,a dn still ahs his cough and his nose still a bit snotty, have kept him off school today
