Bizarre big toe nail

Hi all, a few weeks ago my big toe nails started to darken in patches (pics attached) and now there's a new little splinter haemorrhage on one nail.

I've booked in to see my GP and dermatologist but it's going to be a few weeks wait.

As usual my hypochondriac mind is in a frenzy thinking it could be cancer! Does anyone recognise this issue? Do you think fungal infection or ingrown toenail issue?

No recent trauma to either big toes, but have had repeat issues with them getting ingrown.

Could there be a cyst above the nail?

Oh gosh I didn't even know about myxoid cysts. It's all pretty flat but will keep on the look out for if it starts getting raised

I would start with a podiatrist rather than a GP or dermatologist

Looks a bit ingrown

I'm seeing GP anyway for other issues.

In the country I live in, you definitely see a derm not podiatrist - sorry, should have clarified I'm not in the UK.
