Hi, I had a permanent crown fitted today, and was told not to eat for an hour. This is fine. I'm leaving it until dinner time to be sure and then will eat on other side for a couple of days to be sure. Can I have warm or hot drinks? When can I have thes e? I'm so scared I'll weaken the cement before it fully sets. Google is giving me conflicting infraction of an hour to days!

I had a hot drink as soon as I got home - I don't remember any advice on not eating/drinking at all - and it was fine. Enjoy your tea!

Sorry that should say *information
As you can tell I'm really in need of some caffeine! I haven't eaten/drank since before the procedure

just don’t have it too hot, it will be fine

I've always been told not to drink for at least one hour afterwards. Food usually a couple of hours.

Ah, thank you. The dentist told me there wasn't much of the tooth left. This has really scared me! I want the cement to set fully. I always have a cup of tea in the afternoon, the thought of not having one has made me abit grumpy! Dh made himself one infront of me, so that didn't help either 😡

@INeedAnotherName was that for warm/cold drinks too, or just room temperature? I always love fridge cold water too.

The cement he used should be a chemical reaction/ light set. It really shouldn’t be affected by temperature at all. The temperature thing is more about you burning yourself as you’re numb

oops, belated reply. It was for both hot and cold drinks but only for an hour. The act of drinking/swooshing/swallowing is best avoided. But since it usually takes me 30 minutes to get home its not really a hardship (for me) to wait another 30 mins.

I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your cup of tea. I always need one after the dentist.
