I have seborrhoeic dermatitis on my face. I have been using nizoral shampoo as face wash and the dermatitis went. But I was worried re prolonged use causing liver damage so stopped using it. But now dermatitis is back . Does anyone have advice? Thank you

Once I realised seborrheic dermatitis was the issue with my face, it has transformed since I stopped using anything oil-based.

I use la Roche posay toleraine cleanser and moisturizer, and a bare minerals exfoliating toner between. A few times a week I use a konjac sponge to exfoliate more thoroughly (they're brilliant!!).

They've cleared it right up, I still struggle a little around my nose (and my scalp still needs T-gel every so often) but the difference is phenomenal, the redness and scaly patches have been kept at bay.

Thanks @shortpeopleproblems Had been using lots of sunscreen lately so maybe that’s made it worse. Will try and avoid oil based products and hope it improves

My GP referred me to a dermatologist for my facial SD. She sent me for allergy testing, and also treated it with a variety of therapies including hydrocortisone, pimecrolimus and an antibiotic. It was not straightforward, but the crux was identifying the allergens, eliminating them and helping my skin to heal.

Honey made it worse, as it turned out that one of my triggers is a natural product often found in honey.

Antihistamines do not help with this allergy, because it is not a histamine-releasing allergy (can't remember the proper name for that) but a skin barrier problem resulting in contact dermatitis.
