Fatigue and Iron levels

Hi,

I have two DC - 2 & 6month. My fatigue levels are unreal, I wake up exhausted and go to bed exhausted. I feel like I'm running on fumes. Some days (especially after my period) my whole body and joints just ache.

I have had blood tests done - I was low on folic acid, ferritin (although they have supplemented this) and vitamin D.
My B12 was in the 'normal' range. Although it was 204. (Range is 200-900). I've been supplementing for a few weeks following prescriptions from the GP for folic acid and a higher dose of vit D. But still feel no different.

I called the GP to speak about my results and he told me that although my levels are 'low' it's only slightly (except vit D), so he wouldn't expect that to impact my energy levels... is this accurate?!

Don't get me wrong, I expect to be tired with 2 young children, but this feels crippling! The youngest only wakes up once and whilst I know my quality of sleep is probably on the lower end - I'm still getting some good chunks!

Any advice?

Your B12 may be affecting it, it may be "normal" but not optimal for you. There's a B12 Wake Up Facebook group with guides where you can post your results and get advice, they would say 204 is likely to give you symptoms.

Poor you, with a whole range of deficiencies of course you’re going to feel exhausted. Do you know your levels with the reference ranges?
Without kids, low ferritin and folate made me feel completely exhausted.

Have you had your thyroid checked too?

Thank you @MurielThrockmorton - I will check the group out!

@CapitanSandy my vit admin D was the only one drastically low - the others were literally just outside the range! But the GP was so dismissive which wasn't helpful!

Join iron protocol on fb , they are amazing with the best technique s to get your levels up and advice. It’s pretty crappy having iron deficiency anemia.

I also have low Vitamin B12 levels, but still within range. The GP has given me a course of weekly B12 Injections to boost my levels. I will be having 4 injections in total.
