20 month refusing milk after illness

My ds who is 20 months old has suffered a week of gastroentiritis. During that time we haven't given him milk but did try him on soya and rice milk with no success. He is usually a milk guzzler and always asks for his milk, guzzling it down as soon as he has his bottle. Now though, I can't get him to touch it. I am worried he has been put off when we tried him on the soya & rice milk and after trying numerous ways he hasn't touched a drop for 2 days now. Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to get him to take his milk (I am sure it is still important for him to have his daily quota and am getting a little worried that we'll never get him back on milk again....!).

This might sound silly, but have you ried drinking it yourself where he can see you? Then when he trys to take it (which he probably will) resist slightly. then leave the room and leave it in reach!

Onthe other hand now may be an ideal time to move him on to a cup

Thanks Colditz. I will try that (even though I loathe the taste of milk...!). I have been trying to move from bottle to cup for a while now with absolutely zero success so I'm still carrying on with that anyhow. Here's hoping!

I have a ds the same age and I do this with his meals as he has started spitting his food Angry.
Don't feel bad about the cup thing thogh, my ds wouldn't use one if you bribed him with buttons Grin
