Xyloproct for thrombosed hemorrhoid

Hi. Name changed as I’ve being moaning to friends about this over the last few days.

If you’ve ever been prescribed Xyloproct for a thrombosed hemorrhoid, did it help to get rid of it and if so how quickly? It’s given instant relief but I’m so fed up and just want the thing to go now. Sounds dramatic but thoroughly fed up.

Thank you.

I had xyloproct for thrombosed piles years ago and while it helped, what got rid of them for me was an ice pack and propping the foot of the bed up at night.

I had them again recently and wasn’t given anything by the GP. Again the ice pack got rid of them but it took about 2 weeks.

You have my sympathy - they’re awful!

Thank you for replying! Will give an ice pack a go - how frequently did you apply it?

Good tip to prop the bed up too. It’s first thing in the morning / in the night that they are the most painful.

I applied the ice pack as often as I could stand! 10 minutes every hour during the worst pain. I had a soft gel ice pack that really helped (and didn’t take long in the freezer to refreeze!)
